About Me

Hi, my name’s Xin 😉

I am switching my career to Software/Web development. Before that, I had over 7 years of professional experience in Category insights and  Data Analytics of Retail, Market Research, and FMCG industries.

From 2022 to 2023, I studied Computing at Cardiff University in the UK. This is a fabulous platform for me to gain experience and get to know so many ppl working in the Tech 😉

Education

MSc in Computing and IT Management 2022-2023

This is a conversational program for students with no programming background. It's been a wonderful learning journey for me over the year. I've learned many practical skills that helped me solve real-world software problems. Now, I can develop web applications with Python Flask, React, and Node.js. I also learned many types of data structures and solved them in Java. This program moved me forward toward becoming a software developer.

B.A in International Event Management 2008-2012

Shanghai University of International Business and Economics

This is a joint International Program with Hochschule Osnabrück (Germany).

Work & Experience

Final year project: Project Name: MRSNet Web UI and Middleware Development

Cardiff Universify - Final year project

06/09/2023 - 09/12/2023

Tech stack: React, Node.js, Express, REST API, Ant Design, Multer, AdmZip, CROS Repo Github: https://github.com/idonthav/Web-UI-for-MRSNet Overview: Contributed as a key developer to the MRSNet project, I was responsible for the design and implementation of the benchmark, quantify, simulate, and train core analysis features. I developed a sophisticated web application for complex data processing, based on a command line software developed by Dr.Frank C Lanbein, that allows users to upload datasets, select models, execute analysis tasks, and visualize charts and results in real-time through a web interface. Contributions and Achievements: • Integrated Dr.Frank’s Python analysis scrips into the web interface, allowing for seamless data visualization and manipulation, simplifying complex ML workflows for non-technical users, markedly enhancing project accessibility and efficiency. • Designed a modular front-end architecture that improved maintainability and user interaction. • Developed logic for user authentication and role-based access control for data security. • Build RESTful APIs for model search, file retrieval (images and CSV), and file downloads, enhancing the interactive experience for frontend users. • Optimized large file handling with libraries such as Multer and AdmZip, streamlining the file processing workflow. • Integrated the CROS into the Node.js backend to resolve cross-origin issues posed by browser same-origin pplocies, facilitating secure API calls and boosting development efficiency. • Utilized the Ant Design library to improve the responsiveness and visual appeal of the user interface, thus enhancing user experience. • Adopted Promise and asynchronous programming patterns in middleware to manage external script calls efficiently, ensuring robust error handling and command execution.
