About Me

I’m Saniya Sethi, born and raised in North West London and a recent graduate of the MA User Experience and Service Design course at Loughborough University.

Growing up, I was always an introverted and sensitive individual who often found comfort in the quiet corners of my mind. My deep sensitivity towards the emotions of others has led me to have empathy as one of my strong characteristics. I am always ready to lend a helping hand to those who may need it, and I’m grateful I can utilise this characteristic in the design world.

My passion for UX Design began during my undergraduate degree in Digital Media. After being taught a small percentage about developing wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes of a website or app, I was interested in creating designs focused on the human level of interaction rather than the technical side. I was attracted to ensuring that every interaction the target user would encounter was a valuable and enjoyable experience. I then pursued a master’s degree in User Experience and Service Design and am now ready to work on volunteer projects to give back to the community helping me to progress into a UX/UI Designer.

Completing the master’s course has allowed me to conduct extensive user research to understand their needs and pain points, identify opportunities to create user experiences to fulfil those needs and progress on my talent of designing transformative products/services. I am thankful for the master’s course as it highlighted some of the more important aspects of UX design that I may have overlooked, such as the significance of going backwards and forwards in a design process, the value of design principles, usability heuristics and more.

Work & Experience

UX Designer

Activate (Student Project)

03/01/2023 - 08/24/2023

I used my newly developed UX/UI skills and knowledge to create and design a wellbeing app that supports female nurses with their work/life balance. - Planned and led user research to gain valuable insights into my users, showcasing essential empathy skills to form the user experience. - Used Figma to translate concepts into wireframes and prototypes, constantly iterated based on user testing feedback to refine layout and functionality.

UX Researcher

Severn Trent (Client-based Project)

05/01/2023 - 06/05/2023

The challenge was to work as a team to assist Severn Trent in using their website and digital campaigns to engage minority groups and create a behavioural change when looking after sewers. - Managed and applied insights from quantitative & qualitative research to help my team transform ideas into user-friendly designs across web and mobile. - Enhanced my problem-solving skills, particularly in design sprints, by simplifying complex issues and identifying design opportunities through refined mock-ups of the website.

Usability Analyst

ZARA UK (Student Project)

10/10/2022 - 11/14/2022

In a team project, we aimed to enhance the user experience of ZARA's e-commerce website by identifying usability issues. We conducted a thorough usability evaluation using trusted tools and principles. - Developed an understanding of responsive design principles and used them to plan and facilitate four types of usability tests on the Zara website alongside the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). - Collaboratively worked with my team to analyse the feedback from the usability testing evaluations to highlight the key findings and insights.
