About Me
I studied Dtp and design at the South African Printing College in 2005, before that I did a year of Fine Arts at the Vaal University of Technology. After gaining some experience in the industry I explored owning an agency (Own Business) route, not as colourful as it is painted. I had to wear many hats, I learnt a lot about business, personal skills, I learnt to make a way with minimal resources, when I started I knew nothing about Video, Web, Digital, Copywriting, Book keeping, Project Management, credit and Management amongst other skills, I had to learn along the way, I failed a number of times before I could crack it, that taught me a numerous valuable lessons which one can only learn on the ground. 2 young creatives joined the agency – a junior Graphic Designer and a Junior Copywriter, I shared what I had learned, we worked, we fought, we had fun.
I enrolled into Business centres like The Branson Entrepreneurship Centre, The Seed Academy and Vega (I did not finish at Vega), I attended numerous business seminars. I made my contribution to business in my home town, some still exist, some have passed.
Entrepreneurship is a lonely path and I wanted to be a part of something much that bigger, so I joined Huawei Technologies SA and I was tasked with setting up an internal studio that grew from just 2 people to +8 people by the end of its second year, that exposed me to a world I had been longing for.
We dream differently but the world teaches us to dream the same, my professional path has been a learning curve and constant refinery and pruning. It’s a road less travelled but rewarding, I look forward to sharing some of my crazy ideas with you someday.
I like impactful projects, learning from peers, I believe my ego is half dead – still battling to get rid of it completely if there’s such a thing. Work has taught me to be grounded. I have my own ideas and like hearing what others have to say. At times unapologetic depending on who’s ego we are nursing. I walk into a space and shift its energy to a positive, in work and in personal life – and this obviously takes time. I try to view the world differently.

Working closely with the head of Marketing for Rapid Payments Programme and at times support the main BankservAfrica Marketing team and the Change Management office. My role consisted of design and ideation of the internal Brand look and feel for the Rapid Payments Programme. This look and feel set a tone for how the external brand would behave in personality and character. This brand is a result of continuos research and a thorough Market Strategy which has been evolving with the project to this point. My duties (High Level) were but not limited to : Weekly and monthly reports, Sitting in strategy and agency briefing sessions, design of look and feel, Creative Agency Management and briefing, Advise and guidance to Creative Agency, Develop initial Design Templates for Agency, Internal Sharepoint Site development and management, uploading of data and creative assets, Designing of Creative assets - Video/Animation/Gif/stills and scheduling of creative into the business via Netpresenter, Yammer and emailers. Powerpoint Presentations, UIUX test case for Rapid Payments, Booklets, Emailers, Marketing Collateral, Ideation, Weekly reports, Assiting my manager with Persona Generation, Desktop Research, Designing of events collateral, recording (and post production) and repurposing of event video and other content to weekly video and infographics amongst other duties.
