About Me
My name is Aviwe Mahanjana and I currently work in Sales and Marketing. I compile product brochures, create product videos (primarily using Canva), prepare and give client presentations and offer technical support to our clients and team. I recently completed a Sales and Marketing course with Mercuri International. I’ve been in sales for 18 months and was a projecr manager (or alternatives crops researcher) for the biggest brewing company in the world – Anheuser-Busch. My role required extensive stakeholder engagement and project management, which is why AB-InBev sent me on a Project Management Fundamentals course.
I have an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture from Stellenbosch University – one of the top universities in South Africa.I had to master data analytics and formal writing skills as well as presentation skills. I’m currently enrolled in a Life Coaching Course and plan to do a few more course (specifically Digital Marketing, Environmental Auditing, Policy and Procedure Writing and a few Udemy courses in human relations, Microsoft 365 suite and G-Suite).
Now onto something a little more interesting: my hobbies and interests.
I enjoy writing, making templates, planning and organizing. I can do it for fun all day and all night. I have a blog and I’ve composed a piece on LinkedIn. I have interests in recruitment, project management, business admin, compiling and giving meaningful presentations, compiling marketing material and just staying busy with organizing events, workshops and the likes. That is precisely why I want to become a virtual assistant. Another key reason is that I would like to work remotely in 3 years because that is when I’d like to have a baby.
I’m definitely interested in being a virtual assistance. I enjoy doing different things and I’m confident that with the DM course that I plan on doing, I will be equipped to handle data analytics as well. For now, I’m interested in the basic tasks of a virtual assistance (organizing diaries, travels, hr-related activities, project management, writing, social media, compiling and giving presentations etc.) I’d also appreciate jobs that will stretch my Microsoft and G-Suite skills. I previously mentioned that I have a full time job so I would like to take on part-time jobs.
My 5-year plan is as follows:
2023: Volunteer as a Virtual Assistant and build my portfolio Enroll in a number of courses to upskill myself, particularly Digital Marketing, Microsoft 365 Suite, G-Suite, Environmental Auditing or Carbon-Accounting (because all businesses will start paying carbon tax at some point) and policy and procedure writing for businesses. Launch my life-coaching business including business coaching
2024: Start charging for virtual assistance work Finish main studies and only enroll in short courses Register virtual assistance department in my business Build websites and strong social media presence
2025: Start hosting workshops Train another person Continue freelancing as a VA
2026: Fall pregnant Continue with business
2027: Resign from my full time job! Continue doing what I love full time! VA-ing and life-coaching
