SkilledUp Life is a career accelerator that helps people gain real-world experience and skills from global tech startups, build credible and referenceable proof of experience, and fast-track transition into paid roles, freelancing or entrepreneurship including career transition. Unlike traditional courses or internships, SkilledUp Life places people inside live tech startups from across the world where nothing other than outcomes matter.

In this regard, being a tech startup ourselves, volunteer opportunities at SkilledUp Life can be categorised into:

  • Operational.
  • Management.
  • Leadership.

Anyone joining at the operational level can progress to Management and Leadership. Think about three volunteer terms. Join at the operational level, demonstrate what you are capable of delivering, and rapidly progress to management and operational levels.

Our organisation is split into a number of teams, these being:

In previous years, we had Partnerships as a separate team. But in 2026, we are splitting the partnerships to align with the rest of the teams and deliver better results.

How to join us

The bar for joining the SkilledUp Life team has risen over the years. We look for ‘A’ Players, who can deliver results fast while gaining the experience and skills they need to further their careers. Their contribution has to be win-win for both parties. If it’s not, then one party loses, which defeats the objective of SkilledUp Life. Part of the recruitment process involves evaluating your commitment, mindset and execution ability rather than your profile and prior job titles. Nevertheless, you must have built a full profile on SkilledUp Life to apply.

It takes time to build a profile. If you give up at this stage, it sends a clear signal to us that you are not serious about rapid career progression through SkilledUp Life. Once the profile is fully built, you can also apply for opportunities listed by our customers in addition to us.

You don’t need to be an expert or a specialist to join us, but you must have:

  • A baseline capability relevant to the role (e.g. sales, partnerships, operations, marketing, product, etc) – this could be both education and/or past work experience. We have given many volunteers without any past experience chances before and will continue to do so. But as mentioned before, your commitment, mindset and execution must be there.
  • Or strong learning velocity with evidence of self-directed growth, especially when it comes to software developers, graphic designers, UI/UX designers, copywriters, social media specialists, etc.

An ideal Volunteer team member for SkilledUp Life is someone who shows up every day, Monday to Friday (self-motivated), puts in the hours, learn fast, challenges us, improves week by week, and delivers results. We are looking for people who sees SkilledUp Life as a career accelerator.
