Partnering with SkilledUp Life
The partnership between Digital Witch and SkilledUp Life began with a simple LinkedIn connection.
SkilledUp Life connects skilled volunteers with tech startups. It offers a perfect opportunity for Digital Witch students to apply their newly learned skills in real-world situations. For many, this will be the first step into the professional world, allowing them to gain relevant work experience while building a strong portfolio.
After meeting with SkilledUp Life’s CEO, Manoj Ranaweera, the benefits of this partnership became evident.
Digital Witch students could volunteer with tech startups, gaining valuable hands-on experience while startups benefit from the support of enthusiastic, skilled volunteers. This partnership has proven instrumental for students eager to test their abilities in real projects and for tech startups seeking capable volunteers to help their businesses grow.
Bridging the gap between learning and doing
The primary goal of the partnership is to bridge the gap between learning and doing. By volunteering through SkilledUp Life and helping tech startups, students can put their skills to use in real-world projects, offering them a significant advantage when entering the job market. Unlike traditional internships, these volunteer positions are focused on practical application, ensuring students build the kind of experience employers value.
Each volunteer commits to 2 to 3 hours per day for 60 Volunteer Days over a 3 month Volunteer Agreement where they apply their skills in tech startup environments. This real-world exposure allows them to tackle real challenges, solve problems and collaborate with teams. Through SkilledUp Life volunteering, they gain not only experience but also confidence, making them stand out when pursuing paid opportunities in the future.
Success Stories
The collaboration between Digital Witch Support Community and SkilledUp Life has already led to numerous success stories. Many students have secured paid roles while still volunteering, thanks to the experience and confidence gained from their SkilledUp Life volunteer work. The skills they develop through this program open doors to new opportunities, giving them a head start in the competitive digital job market.
Volunteering isn’t just about gaining experience—it’s about building a network, making meaningful contributions, and positioning oneself for future success. Students leave SkilledUp Life with a stronger professional network, real-world skills, and, in many cases, a job offer in hand.
SkilledUp Life has been invaluable for Digital Witch Support Community students. It provides them with an essential stepping stone from learning to doing, allowing them to apply their skills in practical settings and gain the kind of experience employers look for. Volunteering through SkilledUp Life platform not only enhances their skills but also helps them grow professionally and personally.
For students, this collaboration offers more than just an opportunity to volunteer—it’s a chance to launch a successful career in the digital space, contributing to tech startups and beyond
