Many tech startups ask for free trials and we will continue to refuse. I would like to explain why we have taken such a stance.

Tech Startups in the UK, USA and the so-called Developed World

If your tech startup is from a rich country such as the UK, USA, Europe, China, Russia and the so-called developed world, you should not start a tech startup if you cannot afford to subscribe for £30/month. Tech Startups aren’t for the naive.

The immense effort that takes to build a tech startup should never be taken as granted. Most people who want to build a tech startup have no clue of the toll such will have on your life, your loved ones, or your finances. So if you cannot afford £30/month, you should not play the startup game!

I have been building tech startups since 2004. I am speaking from my experience.

Tech Startups from the Developing World

I do understand that £30/month may be too high a price for you if you do not have rich parents, a rich aunt/uncle, or have savings. To overcome this, we have created a micro fund and are keen to back 5 companies, as an experiment, in exchange for equity.

No trials, why?

SkilledUp Life is a Human Platform. It’s not your standard SaaS business application where you could trial functionality and features over time and can make a judgment. With SkilledUp Life, you need to understand how to operate with Volunteers, how to go about sourcing them and develop processes and systems. It’s not something that could be easily made to work with 7 days, 14-days or even a month. You need to be committed to making this work. Hence why no trials.
