After Mithun spoke to Homero Gheorghe on Linkedin, he signed up to gain further Experience and Skills by volunteering through SkilledUp Life. In the process, he became our 4,000th Volunteer. Thank you.

I want to thank everyone who has supported us since we went live on 1st August 2020 and take a moment to reflect on our progress to date.

In the beginning, there was just me. Then Mithun came on board as our first employee in November 2020. He continues to remain the only salaried staff and functions as our Head of Community. He owns the Volunteer Acquisition strategy, and our overall team has grown to 27, which includes 25 Volunteers.

Volunteers who have helped us with Volunteer acquisition in the past include:

• Priyam (India) – Feb 2021 – Helped us with Social Media and was the first Volunteer to join our team.
• Epi (Vietnam) – June 2021 – Helped us with Social Media.
• Neusa (Brazil) and Laise (Brazil) – June 2021 – Pivotal in helping us to close the first year with 1,000 Volunteers and achieve the target we set on day 1.
• Isaac (South Africa) – Aug 2021 – Helped us move from 1,000 to 2,000 Volunteers in 3 months.
• Yolanda (South Africa) – Trained by Isaac, Yolanda managed our Linkedin and Facebook accounts.

We currently have a team of over 10 in our marketing team with channels on Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. Among them is our champion acquisition strategist Godwin. With Mpumi joining us as Chief Fun Officer aka Event Co-ordinator, we are on the way to reach our year 2 target of having a Volunteer pool of 11,000 by 31st July 2022.

The above chart shows our growth rate – time taken to acquire 1000 Volunteers. We hope that in our 4th year of operations, we would be able to acquire 1,000 Volunteers in a day. Looks impossible, doesn’t it? Certainly, a lot to do from now to then!
