Josué PIERRE LOUIS

I am Josué PIERRE LOUIS, a young Haitian student/professional full of dreams and projects for my country. I was born in a very poor country, ranked among the poorest in the world and the poorest in the Americas. I have a degree in economics and this training has given me a lot of knowledge such as international finance, industrial economics, business law, etc. Thanks to this course, I acquired many skills, namely the ability to financially assess a company, the ability to analyze a project on the financial and economic aspects, etc.

However, I dream of going further, I want to make a greater contribution to the development of my country and therefore realize my dreams. I believe that the best way to achieve this is to continue to train myself more, it is for this reason that I once again started another license: Economic and Social Administration, at the University of Rennes 2 in France.

At the end of my second year of license at Université Rennes 2, I was looking for internship or volunteering opportunities. That’s when I was contacted by one of SkilledUp Life’s volunteers for a volunteering opportunity. I browsed the SkilledUp Life website and read the role description, and this position appealed to me because I think I perfectly met the requirements listed by the role description. I told myself that I could really excel in this role: I particularly enjoy working in the technology sector and that the additional responsibilities it will allow me to obtain are of great interest to me. And I said that’s it! I found an opportunity to showcase my skills by volunteering for Deal Lite through SkilledUp Life.

I spent about six months at Deal Lite as a Data Entry and Research volunteer. This experience helped me to work more serenely on Excel, It also helped me in researching information on the internet, sorting, synthesizing and prioritizing information, contextualizing information and putting it into perspective. In addition, this experience helped me a lot to fill gaps in the English language, because I worked with colleagues who were based in the Philippines, United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, etc.

After these few months volunteering in data entry and research at Deal Lite, an American company contacted me to work for them as a Data Entry professional. I am very grateful to Deal Lite and SkilledUp Life for giving me the opportunity to work on my skills and now I am very confident in this area. In this case, I encourage everyone to join SkilledUp Life as a volunteer to be able to confront their professional project with reality.
