Objective:
The partnership between SkilledUp Life and eLearningLK aims to leverage the strengths of both platforms to create a more comprehensive learning and skill-building ecosystem for adults over the age of 18 years.
Through joint initiatives, resource sharing and cross-promotion, the two organisations hope to enhance the learning experience and provide greater opportunities for skill development for freshers and professionals alike as they prepare to embark on their journey through the world of work.
Outcome :
Through this partnership, those who have completed educational courses at eLearningLK can join SkilledUp Life to put learnings into real practice by volunteering for an early stage tech startup. SkilledUp Life volunteering is designed to be an add on to daily life rather than a replacement. You could be in further education or undertaking a job, as time commitment required is limited to no more than 3 hrs per day for a period of 60 volunteer days, typically under a 3 month Volunteer Agreement.
Part 2: Case Study of Ekagri Panawalage
Ekagri Panawalage was a dedicated volunteer who discovered SkilledUp Life through eLearningLK, and she was also one of the many volunteers who successfully completed her volunteer terms, thus expanding her skill set and knowledge as she embarked on her journey of personal and professional growth.
As a part of this partnership case study, we will take a look at Ekagri’s volunteer experience, her achievements, her challenges and lessons she learned along the way.
Ekagri was preparing for the GCE Advanced Level Examination (Sri Lankan equivalent of the College Entrance Examination) at the time she discovered SkilledUp Life in the year 2022.
“As a student, what I lacked was experience, and what I wanted to gain was experience. Even though I searched for basic entry level and trainee positions, all the career opportunities I came across required some sort of experience. So when I saw there was such an opportunity available to develop skills and get experience, I knew I had to join SkilledUp Life. And now, I can assure you, that decision was definitely worth it.”
Due to her interest and passion in writing, Ekagri decided to apply for the volunteer copywriter position at SkilledUp Life. She faced the interview successfully, and eventually was on boarded as a member of the marketing team, and was then subsequently assigned to the case studies team as well.
“From my first interview, to weekly team meetings, to writing my first case study, to writing numerous articles, and eventually taking over the administrative tasks of the case studies team, I have to say, the things I have learnt, the confidence I have gained has been remarkable for this short period of six months.”
When Ekagri first joined SkilledUp Life, she was a lot less confident of her abilities and of herself in general. Thus, the new responsibilities and opportunities she had to navigate were a daunting yet an exciting challenge for her.
“I have had an amazing experience, learned a lot, made a lot of new friends from around the world, and I would not be able to have this opportunity if it wasn’t for my awesome teammates, my amazing team leaders who have been really great mentors, and the CEO of SkilledUp Life, without whom I would not have had this opportunity at all. I cannot cannot express my gratitude enough. A special thanks also goes to eLearningLK, without which I would not have discovered SkilledUp Life in the first place.”
“SkilledUp Life is a wonderful platform. Obviously, it isn’t perfect, as it has its own ups and downs. But to see SkilledUp Life keep moving forward despite the numerous challenges and obstacles is truly inspiring. And to be a part of that journey has been magnificent.
